Artist Statement
"I feel that nature is the most beautiful creation of art possible. As an artist, I desire to express my appreciation of nature and the love I feel in nature's presence. Nature gives us insights to life itself...the unfolding of a flower and the returning to earth of that flower with its seed to bring forth new life...trees reaching toward light...fields of vegetables...sun and planets moving effortlessly through their magnetic forces...stars giving us dreams and Divine intelligent information...it's all an inspiration." Watercolor is a favorite medium to use when I am painting flowers or ethereal realms. Oil paints for plein air landscapes. For abstract expressions of movement and color I combine acrylic and charcoal on board. I love to give myself the freedom to create in any medium, including earthenware hand-built ceramics. When I am moved to paint something, I am expressing the subject’s beauty but also the feelings that I have for that subject deep within my being. The tenderness of a flower, the strength and wisdom of a giant tree or the connectedness felt in meditation. When viewing my art, if you feel something within you move, then I know that I have been successful with my creation!

A second-generation artist, Austin utilizes watercolors and ceramics to express her connection to both nature and Spirit. Organic shapes, sensual lines, and free-flowing colors invite viewers into a magical world of creation. Austin currently resides in Palisade Colorado, she has considered herself an artist since she was a young child. The beauty of nature and her spiritual connections are apparent in her work.
